LDS general authority Dallin H. Oaks will be the keynote speaker at a Constitution Day event next month sponsored by the University of Utah’s Hinckley Institute of Politics.

Oaks, who is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, is a former Utah Supreme Court justice and was on President Ronald Reagan’s short list for the U.S. Supreme Court.

Oaks will speak on Sept. 17, at the LDS Tabernacle on Temple Square during the first day of a two-day series of lectures about the Constitution. Patriotic songs will be performed by Utah Voices, a Salt Lake City-based community choir.
