SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 4, 2010 – Deseret Book Company officially announced today the new biography of LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson.
President and CEO Sheri Dew unveiled the cover of To the Rescue: The Biography of Thomas S. Monson to booksellers at the annual LDS Booksellers Association conference at the South Towne Exposition Center on Thursday morning.
"For more than 140 years, Deseret Book has published many extraordinary books, but few things rise to the level of the biography of a prophet, particularly a living prophet," said Sheri Dew, president and CEO of Deseret Book.
"We are honored to publish this biography at this time, the story of a remarkable man, and the leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints."
To The Rescue: The Biography of Thomas S. Monson will be on sale Sept. 27.
The 608-page book includes dozens of photos spanning President Monson’s lifetime of service. Author Heidi S. Swinton is an award-winning author and screenwriter whose works include PBS documentaries American Prophet; Sacred Stone; Sweetwater Rescue; Trail of Hope; and America’s Choir. She graduated from the University of Utah and attended Northwestern’s Graduate School of Journalism.
