Elder Jensen: 'Becoming a rightful heir'

Individuals can obtain greater knowledge as they become a rightful heir to the blessings of the fathers, Elder Jay E. Jensen, of the Presidency of the Seventy, said to BYU-Idaho graduates during commencement services on Saturday, April 10. The ceremony was held in the Hart Auditorium on the school's Rexburg, Idaho, campus.

Elder Jensen explained that blessings of a "rightful heir" include a greater desire to become a follower of righteousness.

Drawing from the first two verses in the Book of Abraham, Elder Jensen taught his point as he read "'it was needful for [Abraham] to obtain another place of residence. ...'"

"Like Abraham, most of you have obtained another place of residence and will likely do so again in the coming months motivated by your desires to obtain the blessings of your fathers and to obtain or possess greater knowledge," he said. "Today I wish to focus on becoming a rightful heir to the blessings of the fathers, your own fathers as well as the Old Testament prophets and patriarchs."
