Valerie Barker, a 27-year-old BYU valedictorian graduate living in Washington, D.C, has a dream of providing underprivileged children in inner city neighborhoods a look into stable functioning families. She hopes the program will give them the opportunity and desire to build such homes themselves.
“To me it’s all about the family,” Barker said. “I just feel that nobody is tackling this problem. This is a need that is clearly there but it doesn’t cost very much financially to remedy.”
