Excerpts of the interview with Gretchen Carlson:
CARLSON: So what was that experience like, breast cancer?
ANN ROMNEY: It was breast cancer, again, diagnosed from mammograms, so for me, it was -- it's real important for women to know they have to get their mammograms, but very early stage and I was really lucky and I had surgery right about this time right before Christmas last year, and then I started my radiation in the end of January.
CARLSON: Recently, this panel came out with this recommendation that's been very controversial about women and what age they should get mammograms, saying that women under 50 shouldn't.
ANN ROMNEY: If I were a 40-year-old woman, 40 to 50, I'd want to be getting my mammograms. They catch cancers. And cancer is very curable if you catch it early.
