Mormon Life says: This story links to 11 articles on trust featured in this week's LDS Church News.

In Robert T. Barrett's depiction, Christ reaches out to rescue Peter, whom Christ had bidden to walk to him on water but who began to sink when he lost faith. The incident, recounted in Matthew 14:25-29, illustrates the power that comes from trusting the Lord. The theme of trust is the basis of several articles in this Church News issue continuing a tradition of presenting a year-end package pertaining to a gospel-related theme.

It's pretty safe to say that at some point in your life, you will face a problem you never expected.

How will you handle it?

Will you handle it by becoming someone the Lord intended you to be, by becoming someone He can trust, by becoming more of your true self: courageous, determined and filled with light?

The Lord expects you to live your life fully — even the unexpected life. Why? Because facing the unexpected things in our lives and learning to manage them — perhaps even conquer them, rather than having them conquer us — can actually help us become more and more of our true selves. Does that sound impossible? That is what our lives are for.

How can we grow more into our true selves?
