Life’s storms: “…however, the rain turned into loud pounding sounds. The wind howled fiercely. With growing concern, I got up and looked out a front window. I saw a river of water flowing down the street and through our front yard. Hailstones, solid pieces of ice the size of golf balls, were being furled horizontally at the house. I quickly backed away from the window and walked toward my husband's office. He met me in the entry way.

One aspect of America which has been crushed in the Culture War is the wealth of regional diversity that permeated the United States before the nationalization of television and radio. In the time before nationalnetworks, regions of this nation had their own personalities, dialects, customs and traditions which were life. The regional differences were so strong that both Northerners and Southerners would joke about the need for a passport to travel from one place to another. That cultural difference was really illuminated in the modern movie Sweet Home Alabama.

As 27 young women set out at 4:30 a.m. to walk from their meetinghouse to the Dallas Texas Temple, leaders were sure the energy and enthusiasm of the goal would wear off.

Instead, the young women embarking on their 18.1-mile walk to get to the temple, practically "ran to the temple," said Janice Aoyama, second counselor in the Frisco Texas Stake Young Women presidency.

Mormon Life says: What a good message.

Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints told some 600 mourners gathered at the Kearns Utah Stake Center Monday that Elder Trevor R. Strong "has been transferred — he is still a missionary."

Elder Strong was killed in a traffic accident last Tuesday in Donna, Texas.

Elder Nelson said that Elder Strong "was dutifully and completely on his errand from the Lord. He was a missionary in the loftiest sense of the word."

Funeral services will be held Monday — in Utah and Idaho — for two LDS missionaries killed in Texas earlier this week.

Trevor Reinhold Strong, 21, of Taylorsville, and Derek Jason Walker, 20, of Fairfield, Idaho, were riding bicycles Tuesday evening when they were hit head-on by a driver who was passing another vehicle on a small road in Donna, Texas.

A third missionary — Elder Zachary Todd Harris — survived the collision.

Three LDS Church missionaries had just finished teaching a lesson to a prospective member and were bicycling to their next appointment when they were struck by a car on a small road in Donna, Texas, their mission president said Thursday.

Trevor Reinhold Strong, 21, of Taylorsville, Utah, and Derek Jason Walker, 20, of Fairfield, Idaho, were both killed in the Tuesday night accident.

Survivor Zachary Todd Harris, 19, of Huntsville, Ala., said Thursday that he had been on his mission for five months, but had learned a lot from Strong and Walker, whom he had known for only a week.

One of the two LDS missionaries hit by a vehicle and killed Tuesday night in Texas while riding their bicycles was scheduled to return home from his mission last week.

Elder Trevor Reinhold Strong, 21, of Taylorsville, had extended his two-year mission because he felt he still had work to do, said his stake president in Utah. A stake is made up of multiple congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Daily Texan, the student newspaper for the University of Texas Longhorns, published an article Monday about the intersection of Romney's candidacy and the lives of the approximately 300 students who attend classes at the LDS Institute of Religion in Austin.
