April 2012 Sharing Time: Drawing the Stories of Jesus

Mormon Life says: This sharing time will engage the children in an activity to help them learn about Jesus Christ’s life and teachings.

Preparation: Obtain a number of pictures of events during Jesus’ life. Post these around the Primary room. Gather crayons, markers, and/or pencils and a sheet of paper for each child.

  Presentation: Give each child paper and crayons and have them create a picture of an event from Jesus’ life. Point out the pictures of Jesus posted around the room. If needed, have their teachers help explain the posted pictures to the children, as they work. Give the children a set amount of time to work on their picture.

Ask a number of children to show their pictures and briefly tell the story the pictures depict. After each picture, discuss what Jesus did. Ask the children what they can learn from that story and how they can be more like Jesus.

Bear your testimony of Jesus Christ. Sing songs about Jesus Christ, such as:

“When Jesus Christ Was Baptized” (Children’s Songbook, p. 102)

“Jesus Loved the Little Children” (Children’s Songbook, p. 59)

“Jesus Once Was a Little Child” (Children’s Songbook, p. 55)

“He Sent His Son” (Children’s Songbook, p. 34)

The church’s Humanitarian Services does a great deal of good, and is a nice starting point for finding opportunities for service projects. They maintain a Current Needs page that is updated once every few months as needs change.

Currently among their listed needs is File Folder Games. Coloring, cutting out, and assembling games like this is right at the girl’s skill level, and is something that they can kind of relate to. There are lots of free patterns for file folder games all over the internet. I found this site (not the easiest to navigate, but it has a wide selection) and printed out some black and white pages.

At the activity the girls colored the pages, and started cutting them out. They had a great time sitting around gabbing, and stayed interested in coloring the for the whole hour we were at it.

Here is the Theme for Primary this Year! It is on the Scriptures this year!: 2nd Nephi 4:15- For my soul delighteth in the scriptures, and my heart pondereth them.

So here is the Activity that our Primary did, which can go with Activity days first we made SCRIPTURE BOOK MARKS- with just thick ribbon and buttons! It was so cute! We had multi-colored ribbons to choose from! so many choices! The girls loved making them! Just take some ribbon cut to size, glue buttons on. So easy and cute!

Yesterday we did a really fun activity that the girls loved! We made thankful trees! It was so much fun! I printed them off here!

I printed them off on cardstock! with leaves of different colors! and we talked about "gratitude" and being thankful! I based it on President Monsons talk.
